Properly crate training your dog can have many benefits. Some of the benefits are:
Preventing damage in your home from the anxiety that can be built from a dog left outside of the crate. When your dog is constantly on a free roam without supervision it can get bored or anxious and try to find things to stimulate its mind. The things that are usually found cause damage to your home such as eating the baseboard, scratching the doors, or even ingesting dangerous items.
When the crate has been properly introduced it acts as a safe spot or a den.
The crate can also help with potty training in such that dogs do not like to soil in their own dens unless necessary. This will be untrue if the crate is too big so finding a properly sized crate for your dog is key! A proper-sized crate will leave enough room for your dog to stand up, turn around, and lay back down comfortably.
It is a great management tool! Especially if you have multiple dogs in the household that do not get along.
You can also have peace of mind if your dog ever needs to stay overnight at the vets or a boarding facility. They will have become habituated to the crate and are much more likely to have a comfortable stay.
